Before The Set gets you closer to the people behind the music, before the night really gets going.

I'm Mike Roberts from Making Digital Real, and I'm usually there for one reason: to get behind the camera and capture the energy of live music, DJs, dance events and nightlife.

But before I start filming, I sit down with the people I'm there to capture for a relaxed, completely unscripted chat.

Bands, DJs, artists, performers and people from the club scene. No rehearsed answers and no serious music journalism.

Just real conversations, great stories, a few laughs and a glimpse at the person behind the performance.

Then the chat ends, I pick up the camera, and they do their thing.

I'm also the host of Before The Set, a podcast born from a simple idea: if I'm already there to film someone, why not get to know the person behind the performance first?

I'm not a music journalist and I'm definitely not interested in scripted interviews. I like real conversations, good stories, interesting people and capturing moments as they actually happen.
